Petite Four or Pedicure

I did it again! I've been calling around to get prices on petite fours to serve at my launch party that's coming up this weekend. In case you didn't know, they're delicious and beautiful, but it's difficult to find a bakery that customizes them to the colors you want. But that's not the point of today's rant.

I've called no less than six places and I swear, each and every time, instead of asking for petite fours, which my brain is telling me to say, the word pedicure comes right out of my mouth. Now, I know I need one. There's no question about it. But I've been holding off until closer to the party so they'll look fresh and pretty in my new shoes. However, I think subconsciously, my brain and my eyes are tired of looking at these awful toes! And I know that the local bakeries are tired of hearing about them... So I guess I'm going to have to do something about it. I'm just not sure when I'll find the time.

I'm working on an experiment today instead. Water gels.... I've never heard of them before. I ordered them with several packets of metallic gold and pearl white beads to fill the vases of the centerpieces for my party. (I don't know why, but every time I say the word metallic, I think of 'Vinny Bag of Donuts' saying; "metallic mint green paint!" My Cousin Vinny.. love that movie!)

But anyway... I have my girls coming over tomorrow night to help fill the vases, so I have to figure out these water gels quickly. They have to set up for 10 hours. It's not necessarily figuring them out. It's figuring out what to put them in that won't overflow. I have 8 packets and each requires a gallon of water. See the dilemma? I'm thinking I need to go to the dollar store for a bin or something.

And apparently the mall! Because the dress I ordered came in last night. And guess what?! It Does Not Fit!!! What is up with that? Now I have to re-think what the heck I'm going to wear. Which means, I'll have to take some time off from work and go try to stuff myself into styles that are completely unflattering in a tiny dressing room under florescent lights. Yay me!

It looks like these awful toes are just going to have to wait. So if you're working at a bakery and a crazy lady calls and asks for a pedicure instead of petite fours, please cut her a little slack. And try to remember that we're not all nuts or nuts all the time...

There's never a dull moment at my house. :)
